Meet the Team - Anne Marie Kilkenny

3 June 2016

 1. How long have you worked for Oliver Wight?
Since 1st January 2004

2. What’s your background?
I spent 15 years in the Chemical Industry working in the UK, USA and Belgium, mostly in Purchasing and Supply Chain Management. I did two Class A journeys as a client of Oliver Wight so I do understand what it takes to make Excellence happen!

3. What does your day-to-day job involve?
There isn’t really a “day to day” as every day is different – which is one of the things I love about the job.  Some of the time I’m trying to help people see why they need to change.  Most of the time I’m helping them achieve excellence through teaching, coaching and mentoring. My main objective is to help Clients see just how good they can be and then help them in practical terms to achieve Class A and all the benefit that will bring to the business and also to them both personally and professionally.

4. What’s your favourite part of the job?
People.  I feel very privileged that I get to work with so many talented people. My role means I get to guide and coach people at all levels and from completely different backgrounds.   It’s not always easy - I have had debates with many people!  I love it when it really gels with clients and we develop a great solution together.

5. What’s your idea of a utopian workplace?
Challenging, fun, productive.  Everyone feels they have learned and achieved something  meaningful every day. And a chocolate fountain (you did say utopian)

6. If you had to describe yourself in three words, what would they be?
Positive, Persuasive, Resilient

7. What is your favourite saying?
If you want to go fast, go alone.  If you want to go far, go together

8. What would people be surprised to know about you?
When I was 8 years old I was crushed when I realised I would never make the school football team because girls weren’t allowed.  I didn’t think about it for many years but looking back I can see how this early disappointment drove me on in later life.  I’m much harder to say “no” to now!

9. What’s your biggest achievement? – Professional and/or personal
Professionally – being part of the Class A team at FMC Process Additives Division.  I know this may sound cheesy but we really made magic happen.  It was an incredibly challenging time but we had a lot of fun and we genuinely transformed our business.  My wish is for all of our clients to have that same feeling of achievement and success.
