Meet the Team - Dawn Dent

How long have you worked for Oliver Wight? 

5.5 years

 

What’s your background? i.e. university, previous roles; 

BA in Modern Languages at the University of Bradford, before 4 years in Customer Service & Contract Management at Baker Perkins, an industrial confectionary and bakery equipment manufacturer.

I then had 25 years at Caterpillar, working in a variety of roles from Supply Chain Management to Procurement to New Product Introduction to Culture, Process & Systems Transformation. The results of Caterpillar’s partnership with Oliver Wight were amazing!  As the Caterpillar Project Leader for two programmes with Oliver Wight, I experienced the positive power of Oliver Wight’s Proven Path methodology and was delighted to join the Oliver Wight team a few years later.

 

What does your day-to-day job involve?

Marketing Oliver Wight, developing sales opportunities with new and existing clients, developing and delivering public and private workshops, as well as coaching clients across the EAME region and occasionally further afield.

 

What’s your favourite part of the job?

Working with clients; whether it’s presenting education workshops, helping clients apply their new knowledge to their own business or coaching them as they refine their new ways of working and implement them. I love seeing people be proud of the new processes they have designed and seeing their delight when they deliver so many benefits for their customers, for the business and for themselves.

 

What’s your idea of a utopian workplace?

Somewhere where you can be yourself, give your best, learn all the time, make a difference and feel appreciated.

 

If you had to describe yourself in three words, what would they be?

Focused, hard-working and happy.

 

What is your favourite saying?

I don’t know whether it is a well-known saying but “people constantly impress me”.  Everyone can embrace change, just give them a chance and the right support.

 

What would people be surprised to know about you?

I’ve been a tap dancer since I was 7 years old. I’ve even danced for the Caterpillar Distributors!

 

What’s your biggest achievement? – Professional and/or personal

Professional: seeing the achievements and growth of people I have developed and coached over the years.

Personal: supported by my husband, Andrew, pursuing my fascinating career whilst raising two lovely sons and giving them the opportunity and environment to pursue their own dreams.
