1. How long have you worked for Oliver Wight?
I’ve worked with Oliver Wight for over 20 years, and it all started with my first meeting with them on a Class A program back in 1996. Since then, we’ve collaborated on three programs together over the years, before I eventually joined as a partner.
2. What’s your background?
I’ve got quite a varied background; I started out working in R&D as a metallurgist and then moved to operations management. I’ve worked in metals processing, engineering and within both the industrial and decorative coatings industry.
3. What does your day-to-day job involve?
Spending time supporting clients to improve their business with coaching sessions, as well as leading education and workshops at their businesses.
4. What’s your favorite part of the job?
There are two aspects that really stand out as my favorite part of the job and both are people-centric. The first is meeting clients and helping them build knowledge of best practice and the second is spending time talking to them about their background and culture. Over the years, I’ve gotten to know some fantastic people with really interesting stories.
5. What’s your idea of a utopian workplace?
It has to be fun; you’re at work a long time so it is really important to enjoy your job. A massive bonus is getting along with the people you work with, which luckily, I do!
6. If you had to describe yourself in three words, what would they be?
Smart, thoughtful, and munificent – well that’s what my better half says and who am I to argue?
7. What is your favorite saying?
If you can’t explain something on a single sheet of paper, it’s too complicated.
8. What would people be surprised to know about you?
I’m an avid tennis player and have visited the court at least twice a week for over five years. You’ll also be surprised to hear that I’m still waiting for my first win…
9. What’s your biggest achievement? – professional and/or personal
My biggest achievement has to be becoming an Oliver Wight partner. On a personal note, I’d love to say it would be a tennis win but as aforementioned, it’s yet to materialize.
